Before he became Guru, Bhai Jetha Ji was already trusted because he understood Sikh teaching and consistently attended to the needs of the sangat.

Standard Sikh biography describes Bhai Jetha Ji as distinguished by both his grasp of the Sikh faith and his attention to the needs of the community. This combination matters. Knowledge without service can become pride, while service without understanding can lose direction. Bhai Jetha Ji’s development joined learning, responsibility, and humility. When Guru Amar Das Ji later chose him as successor, the appointment did not create these qualities from nothing. It publicly recognized a pattern already visible in his life.
